About us
MCN was established in 2019 as a pilot project (PhD Research Spinoff) to test the viability of establishing a Community Network (Wi-Fi network). In 2019 the pilot provided free internet for three months in Roerfontein, one of the villages under Mamaila Tribal Authority connecting a church, a school and a Disability Centre. MCN aims to provide affordable internet access to community members. The project is an initiative of the Zuri Foundation, implemented in partnership with Mamaila Royal Council, proudly powered by Kichose Technology. MCN is funded by the Internet Society.
